Norwegian Bank Account
-
Students staying more than six months
You must have received a Norwegian identity number to open a bank account in Norway.
You can choose a physical or an online bank. You will have to show up in person either to the physical bank, or to collect your card at the post office. You will need your passport and ID to identify yourself.
Please note that opening a bank account is a lengthy process and it might take up to two months.

Students staying less than six months
If you are staying for less than six months, you will need a d-number to open a bank account. This is a complicated process if you are not employed. We recommend you to check with your home bank for alternatives.
If your home bank does not charge substantial fees, we advise you to not open a bank account in Norway.

Which bank should I choose?
Choose a bank that offers good conditions for the services you need. OsloMet cannot suggest any specific banks, but we advise you to ask other students for recommendations.
