About the study place
Reykjavík University is an international and vibrant university located in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. The campus is new and has a unique location right by Reykjavik's only geothermal beach. Here you can go for a swim after the lecture or dine at the most environmentally friendly restaurant in Reykjavik «Nauthóll», located right next to the campus. The university offers study programmes within social sciences and technology.
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the university and into the city center of Reykjavik. In the city you will find the shopping center "Kringlan", the famous building "Perlan" and Hallgrímskirkja which is Iceland's largest church. The church has a unique look and is really worth a visit. In front of the church there is a statue of Leiv Eriksson who was a famous explorer and the first person to discover North America. No matter what preferences you have, Reykjavik has something for everyone. It is almost mandatory to visit geothermal waters, for example the Blue Lagoon, volcanoes and black deserts when you first visit this beautiful island. Discover a beautiful nature with amazing hiking trails and last but not least, the northern lights.
The university has a close connection with the industry in Iceland, this gives students a good opportunity to apply what they learn in theory, also in practice. The university has small classes which makes it easier to discuss the things you learn. It also provides a better interaction between lecturer and student. The university's main focus is research, excellence in teaching, entrepreneurship and technology development. They educate tomorrow's leaders in business, technology and society.
